All fired up about my fiddle - It used to be a violin, but now it is starting to sound like the fiddle it was meant to be. Practice practice practice - can't wait to practice each day. Will start on my free lesson today - can't wait to get to it. Thanks for any advice - love this forum, love this site.

I play fiddle. Didnt start playing til I was 47 so it's been a rough road. 3 years into it, i can play several parlor/contest pieces and am struggling to learn to 'play well with others' and improvise a bit. I can 'hear' what I want to do but can see that I'm not as familiar with my instrument as i should be. memorizing a contest piece is NOT the same and truly learning to play! I'm downloading my first BC lesson today and looking forward to getting off this plateau i'm stuck on!

Good luck Sylvia, I know you'll enjoy the lesson. I bet you'll be playing at a whole new level!

Well I played mediocre bluegrass banjo for about 8 years, then just gave up, sold my instrument and stopped playing altogether. Fast forward about 10 years or so and I decided to try playing again, but flatpicking guitar this time around. I had a knowledge of guitar chords from fooling with it about 40 years ago, but other than that, it's been a fresh start. I'm enjoying it tremendously, and since I recently retired, I have more free time for picking!
