Backup Lessons

I have just signed up to your site. It looks very interesting and I will check it out more but one question arises for me and that is 'backup'!. I play Banjo, Guitar and Mandolin. There are plenty of tuition methods available for learning Bluegrass tunes but not much in the way of backup! What do you guys do while the other instruments play their lead breaks? I would love to have the addition of these files. There are a few DVD's available like Janet Davis and Acutab that are good but I don't seem to be able to transfer this knowledge into practical usage' It's a bit like learning the alphabet but not being able to make a sentence out of it. Is it just me?

Ken

Might I suggest a special lesson for fiddlers.?

How about a special lesson for fiddlers consisting of:

1) several of the most common scales played thru several times in seperate downloads. Once they are downloaded the fiddler could copy G scale in the same folder as say Midnight Train and seperately to another tune in G. The F scale could be copied to the Why Don't You Tell Me So folder; etc. For beginners especially this might help with intonation.

2) Perhaps a video could be included with a hints for good intonation

3) A lesson on appregios and there use in backup.

Thanks for the consideration

Rick

BGC letter to members

I rec'd your email to the membership this morning, and just want to mention how I enjoy the lessons. It has not been an inconvenience to me that lessons are running late. They are of such high quality that I can imagine the work involved with all parties.

Which leads me to suggest, if you are having trouble scheduling with the instructors, would it be possible to use some slightly lessor known instructors? No doubt there are many very good pickers that would love to be involved in something like this.

I speak only for myself, but I wouldn't mind the quality going down a bit, for the sake of producing monthly lessons on a regular basis.

Out of all the books, videos, online material, personal lessons, etc, the material you put out is no doubt my preferred medium. And very cost efficient. Maybe you should charge more? Compared to personal lessons that are expensive, and don't usually offer the opportunity to video, BGC lessons are a bargain. Especially since you can repeat the lesson over and over.

Anyway, just a few thoughts for your fine site, I truly enyoy it, and hope it continues indefinitely.

MarkN
